2013 Winners

Keep Irving Beautiful hosted the annual “Mayor and KIB Proud Partners Awards” reception on Monday, August 12, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Irving. Twelve awards were given in ten different categories. Honorees include:

• Youth Leadership Awards: Ikram Qadri
• Educator Award: Bernard Manale, Nimitz High School
• Educator Award : Dr. Roy Vu, North Lake College
• Faith Group Award: Bear Creek Community Church
• Business and Industry Award: Kayak Power
• Media Award: Rambler Newspapers
• Media Award: Irving Parent Magazine
• Civic Organization Award: Emma’s House
• Lifetime Achievement Award: Sharon Barbosa -Crain
• Civil Servant Award: Police Chief Larry Boyd
• Green Government Award: Linda Harper Brown
• KIB Hometown Award: Gerald Farris

In addition, local nominees for the 2013 Keep Texas Beautiful Awards were honored. Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB), with over 350 affiliates statewide, presents awards in numerous categories at its annual State Conference each June. Those nominated by Keep Irving Beautiful included the City of Irving Public Works Department, which placed third in the Government Category, Margie Stipes, who placed third in the O.P. Schnabel Senior Citizen Category, and VHA, Inc., which placed first in the Ebby Halliday and Maurice Acers Business and Industry Category.

On the state level, Keep Irving Beautiful was honored with the Gold Star and Sustained Excellence Awards from Keep Texas Beautiful, and received second place in the Governor’s Community Achievement Award in population category 10.

On the national level, KIB once again received the President’s Circle Award from Keep America Beautiful, and a 2nd Place National Affiliate Award in its population category.
