Thank you for your outstanding response to this volunteer opportunity.  We had 382 volunteers who collected 1,760 pound of trash and 440 of recyclables.  Check the KIB Facebook page for pictures.  If you were not able to participate this time, please join us next spring for the Great American Cleanup, or next fall for the 2012 Trash Bash.

Irving's hidden treasure: the Elm Fork

Irving’s 2011 Trinity Trash Bash will be getting back to its roots with a waterway cleanup of the Elm Fork of the Trinity River, in addition to the land-based cleanup at T.W. Richardson Grove Park.  (Click on link to flyer at top of page for more details).     We will be partnering with Kayak Power, who will provide the folllowing:

  • Kayaks
  • Paddles
  • Life Vests
  • Safety Instruction

Due to limited space available, we will register waterway volunteers on a first-come, first-served basis, and we expect this to fill up quickly.

As of 9/7/2011:  Waterway Registration is Closed!  We have filled all available spots.  Please sign up for the land cleanup below.

Restrictions for this event are as follows:

  • No personal watercraft - Kayak Power will supply all the kayaks
  • Age 15 and older only for waterway cleanup

Use the form at the end of this page to register.  You must check the “land cleanup” box for your registration to go through.    (There are no age restrictions for the land cleanup.)  KIB will supply litter pickers, vests, gloves,  trash bags and lunch after the cleanup.  You supply the energy, enthusiasm and volunteer spirit.

Register below, and we’ll see you on the 17th!   Thanks for helping Keep Irving Beautiful.
